This May, over 100 industry professionals gathered at Green Valley Ranch in Las Vegas for a two-day mix of keynote speakers, breakout sessions, and networking at the 11th annual AEC Technology Strategies Conference. Attendees were able to choose from a variety of learning sessions led by industry leaders; subjects included social media, IPD, project management, BIM, cloud computing, and more. One attendee commented that the AEC Technologies Strategies Conference “is the best networking event I go to every year.” In fact, all attendees who responded to a follow-up survey rated the conference as “excellent” or “good.”
In case you couldn’t make it this year, we’ve put together a recap of the project management-focused sessions:
Leveraging Business Systems Technology for Effective Project Management
Led by Kurt Anderson, Chief Information Officer, GeoEngineers, Inc.
This session focused on the importance of developing a collaborative network to support the business critical applications at geographically distributed organizations. Attendees learned how the flexibility and power of evolving network technologies enables the collaborative environment at a reduced total cost of ownership.
IPD and Engineering Document Management for the AEC Enterprise with SharePoint and the Microsoft Stack
Led by Joe Giegerich, President, Gig Werks and Edwin Elmendorp, President, Cadac Organice Americas
This session explored how it is possible to achieve trust integrated project delivery and better document management with SharePoint. Attendees learned how to leverage SharePoint on premise and in the cloud to create end-to-end management of their projects. The demonstration presented “a day in the life of an engineer” and illustrated how with SharePoint and the Microsoft stack you can achieve AEC document and CAD management, business intelligence, collaboration, project management, automation of transmittals and workflows, and more.
