Webcast to demonstrate new reality and power of open BIM collaboration
BOSTON — The new reality of open BIM collaboration will be demonstrated on October 21 in a GRAPHISOFT webcast. Insights will be offered on how true interoperability and real-time design sharing are possible with BIM model.
The originator of the virtual building concept, Graphisoft, hosts a free one-hour webcast — “Real Time Sharing is Power. And Efficiency. And productivity: The Open Collaboration Webcast” — October 21 at 12:00 p.m.
The webinar will show that open design collaboration with ArchiCAD enables the AEC industry to work like they want to right now, the company said. It is interoperability re-defined, so that architecture and engineering teams can collaborate using their own BIM models in a dynamic IFC-based workflow. See ArchiCAD engage intelligent data exchange with Revit Structure, Tekla Structure, Autodesk MEP, Revit MEP and more.
Open collaboration delivers the power and promise of building information modeling —increasing productivity, minimizing waste, optimizing coordination — from conceptualization through design, documentation, construction and, ultimately, maintenance and operation.
Hosted by Kurt Ameringer, virtual design and construction strategist at Graphisoft, the webcast will show real-world examples of data exchange between building information models, and how to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration between architects, engineers, contractors and owners that will:
• Result in faster delivery of design projects, fewer errors and easier change control
• Bridge different requirements for BIM models between architects and various AEC industry engineering disciplines
• Provide more polished design and documentation — faster— with improved communication capabilities for clients and consultants
“In the AEC space, there is a constant interoperability struggle to share real building model information across multiple disciplines and technologies,” said Ameringer. “This webcast will also present the new reality for the industry — real-time design sharing is available now that makes the collaboration process easier and real productivity improvements possible.”

Program Management for Collaboration, Standardization, and Overall Success
Originally Aired on: June 23, 2010
To deliver successful projects consistently with appropriate value and return for all stakeholders, the AEC industry needs to review the personal and contractual processes, relationships, and dynamics at play among owners, contractors, designers, and the entire supply chain.
