Latest edition of Newforma PIM solution now commercially available

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Newforma, a project information management (PIM) software company connecting architecture, engineering, and construction firms, announced that the latest edition of the Newforma PIM solution is commercially available to new and existing AEC customers worldwide. The solution includes Newforma Project Center Eighth Edition and its new add-on products, Newforma Mobile, Newforma Contract Management, and Newforma Add-in for Autodesk Revit. The software streamlines AEC project delivery workflows that customers use every day, freeing them from overbearing administrative burdens and helping AEC firms work together more effectively.

Seven leading AEC firms participated in Newforma’s Limited Customer Release program, which validates products by using them to manage active project data in live production environments.

One such customer, Mark Willey, P.E., director of information technology at Pond & Company, a full-service architecture and engineering consulting firm providing architecture, engineering, planning, construction, and construction management services to customers worldwide, sees tremendous potential for the expanded Newforma PIM solution: “Newforma Project Center Eighth Edition, together with the new add-on products Newforma Mobile and Newforma Add-in for Revit, shows tremendous potential for helping our firm optimize our project delivery work processes while maximizing our investments in BIM and mobile technologies. In particular, the new folder sharing capabilities in Newforma Info Exchange will streamline the way we distribute and coordinate BIM and CAD design information with our external consultants, as well as communicate design submittals and other information with contractors and clients. Internal users as well as external consultants will appreciate the simplicity of drag-and-drop for sharing and synchronizing folders across the project team. And, as director of IT, I like the fact that synchronization can be scheduled to occur overnight and on weekends to minimize the impact on our network bandwidth.”

Newforma Mobile further expands the solution’s remote access capabilities to include smartphones, including iPhone, BlackBerry, and Android mobile devices. Newforma Contract Management adds comprehensive contract and document change management. Newforma Add-in for Autodesk Revit supports model-based design workflows with Autodesk Revit Architecture, Autodesk Revit Structure, and Autodesk Revit MEP.

In addition to the new products above, Newforma Project Center Eighth Edition includes new activity centers for managing document control, meeting minutes, and project images.
Newforma CEO Ian Howell said one goal with Eighth Edition was to deepen the connection between AEC members of the project team: “This latest edition of the Newforma PIM solution expands role-based access to key project information and further streamlines the project delivery work processes that our customers use every day so that team members can focus on the work they go to work to do — design, engineer, and build. We are pleased to provide significant enhancements to many existing features, add a lot of brand-new functionality, and offer three new add-on products to our customers. Our solution is designed to meet the evolving needs of all architects, engineers, and construction firms to enhance their use of building information modeling, provide mobile access to project information, and support integrated project delivery.
