IMAGINiT Technologies unveils Scan to BIM 2012

FRAMINGHAM, MASS. — Rand Worldwide has announced that its IMAGINiT Technologies division has launched the new Scan to BIM 2012 (http://imaginit.com/scantobim) software for the Autodesk Revit 2012 platform.

This new downloadable version is re-engineered specifically to support the new point cloud engine in Autodesk Revit 2012 software. Features such as the ability to create Revit geometry from the point cloud and analyze any differences between the user’s model and the point cloud will continue to provide users with both productivity and quality assurances.

“We’re proud to say that by listening to customer requests and harnessing the capabilities of the new Revit 2012 platform, our development team has improved the already robust Scan to BIM software,” said Matt Mason, director of software development for IMAGINiT Technologies. “We continue to work hard to implement new features which will provide additional benefits for Revit users.”

Additional tools to assist the overall Scan to BIM process include the ability to create:

• 3D walls from the point clouds
• Piping and ductwork (Revit MEP only)
• Construction geometry
• Topology
• Embedded curtain walls
• Automatic section placement and 3D views
• Slab deformations.

Scan to BIM 2012 is designed specifically for the Autodesk Revit 2012 products (Autodesk Revit Architecture, Autodesk Revit Structure and Autodesk Revit MEP software) and includes specific features for architects engineers, contractors and survey providers.
