Design Data and Autodesk announce new BIM integration via SDS/2 automatic connection design

LINCOLN, NEB. — Design Data, a provider of 3D detailing and building information modeling (BIM) software, announced a new integration between its SDS/2 software solutions and Autodesk Revit Structure. The collaboration — which will be demonstrated for the first time at NASCC: The Steel Conference in Pittsburgh, May 11‐14 streamlines the BIM workflow with new technology and interoperability. More robust than an IFC exchange, the collaboration will result in seamless transfers of BIM data.

Through this integration, automated connection design is widely available to the AEC industry inside the tools they are accustomed to using for BIM projects. Now Revit users can seamlessly transfer their models and connections to the steel detailers on the project using SDS/2's intelligent connection design. This level of interoperability will preserve the architect's and engineer's information in a way that maintains the accuracy necessary for steel detailing and manufacturing — enhancing the BIM work process.

"The strength of SDS/2 software solutions is in its connection design and detailing accuracy. By integrating with Revit, our strengths become more valuable than ever to the AEC industry," said Design Data President Damon Scaggs. "This integration with Revit is advantageous to all the partners on a BIM project, allowing each company to excel in its respective part of the BIM work process."
