Bentley releases NCS Workspace for Civil

EXTON, PA. — Bentley Systems Inc. released its NCS Workspace for Civil, which enables designers to incorporate the United States National CAD Standard (NCS) in Bentley’s InRoads and GEOPAK 3D civil engineering design software. The workspace allows users to establish integrated standards to accommodate corporate, discipline, project, client, and user needs and preferences. According to Bentley, this capability eases standards compliance, streamlines data exchange, and lowers costs throughout the civil project lifecycle.

The NCS Workspace for Civil enables Bentley to fulfill the industry-wide call for standardized tools that improve communication, collaboration, constructability, and fiscal responsibility for the development and maintenance of transportation infrastructure. The Workspace integrates with Bentley’s MicroStation-based InRoads and GEOPAK as well as Bentley’s new Power InRoads and Power GEOPAK stand-alone applications.

“Bentley’s NCS Workspace for Civil raises the bar for civil software,” said Jay Vose, Bentley director of Civil Product Management. “It gives government and private owner-operators a cost-effective means of ensuring consistent, quality-assured infrastructure projects that can be more easily maintained for years to come.”

The NCS Workspace for Civil provides a user-customizable interface and custom environment for data resource files and configuration variables. It incorporates NCS guidelines for levels, symbols, drawings, and plotting into default files, integrating with common file types. Workspace support also extends to other Bentley civil engineering/transportation products, including Bentley Rail Track for rail design and engineering.

The NCS Workspace for Civil can be downloaded from Bentley SELECTservices. To install the workspace, users are required to provide their National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) account number.
