Autodesk ships Infrastructure Design Suite 2012

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — As of June 2, 2011, Autodesk began shipping its Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite 2012, joining Autodesk Building Design Suite 2012 as the company’s second new suite for the architecture, engineering, and construction industries. The Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite 2012 combines tools needed to plan, design, build, and manage infrastructure, offered as a single purchase. The suite extends familiar AutoCAD workflows by adding the power of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for infrastructure including model-based design, analysis, visualization, and simulation.

Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite 2012 is available in three editions: Standard, Premium, and Ultimate.
• The Standard edition extends familiar AutoCAD workflows with foundational planning, design, and coordination capabilities. The Standard edition includes AutoCAD 2012, AutoCAD Map 3D 2012, Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis 2012, and Autodesk Navisworks Simulate 2012 software.
• The Premium edition, a comprehensive BIM for infrastructure solution, adds model-based design, analysis, and visualization capabilities. The Premium edition includes all of the software from the Standard edition and adds AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 and Autodesk 3ds Max Design 2012 software.
• The Ultimate edition adds advanced coordination and clash detection capabilities. It includes all of the software from the Premium edition, but offers Autodesk Navisworks Manage 2012 software in place of Autodesk Navisworks Simulate 2012.

According to the company, Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite Premium 2012 helps users across a project’s lifecycle to access and integrate CAD and GIS data for analysis and more informed decision making; explore more design options, analyze project performance, and deliver more coordinated documentation; create near-photorealistic renderings to help validate designs, communicate design intent and create compelling presentations; integrate models from multiple sources for project review as well as navigation and construction sequencing; and maintain infrastructure information more dependably with intelligent industry models.
