Autodesk releases Kindle Fire version of AutoCAD WS


Autodesk has released a new version of its AutoCAD WS mobile app for the Amazon Kindle Fire. The Kindle Fire runs Google's Android OS, which the fire runs a heavily customized version of, but a separate app had to made for it to run on the Kindle Fire tablet PC and sold in the Amazon.com app store.

The operating system on Kindle Fire is a custom version of the Android 2.3 "Gingerbread" OS. The Kindle Fire includes a cloud-accelerated “split browser” called Amazon Silk which uses Amazon EC2 for off-device cloud computation including webpage layout and rendering.

AutoCAD WS is a basic drawing and editing tool based on AutoCAD for mobile devices. It has been downloaded more than a million times for both the Android OS and Apple's iOS.
