Allplan 2011 to set new standards in AEC market

MUNICH — Nemetschek Allplan has introduced Allplan 2011, an AEC platform for 3D building modeling with quantity takeoff and cost determination.

Allplan 2011 is an intuitive online central platform with innovative tools and seamless data transfer, the company said, adding that with a completely reworked graphics core, Allplan 2011 has faster refresh processes than ever.

"The new functions are tailored to designers' individual requirements. Allplan 2011 is an important tool that helps them manage their everyday tasks, giving them greater creative freedom", said Peter Mehlstäubler, managing director of Nemetschek Allplan GmbH. “Users can complete their designs faster than ever. ‘Where’ and ‘when’ makes no difference. Designers also have the option to make all content and information related to Allplan available online and at any time.”

Allplan 2011 provides new user options. The new Allplan Options dialog box, for example, is laid out to enable intuitive user guidance. The optimized software ergonomics ensure that users can work accurately and efficiently. Another new user-friendly development is the new reporting function. It adds reports for all Allplan areas that can be easily adjusted by the user. With a few quick actions, the user can adjust the layout of this report to match a specific office or project.

In its function as a CAD platform, Allplan 2011 supports the design and construction process. Additional exchange formats such as STL for Rapid Prototyping and bidirectional exchange for Google SketchUp and Google Earth have been added to the current version. The IFC interface has been optimized for seamless, configurable exchange of high-quality 3D model data.

Allplan 2011 is now more integrated with the Internet. "Allplan Connect" starts a new, international online portal for Allplan users and Serviceplus customers. The Service portal connects Allplan users worldwide via the Internet. It provides a wide range of services, covering everything from user forums, download libraries and training courses to technical support, as well as software updates and upgrades, all of which can be accessed at any time and from anywhere.

Allplan 2011 provides users with many new Allplan-optimized CAD objects and textures for creating high-quality designs and models. This content is also available online in Allplan Connect. Serviceplus customers have access to an exclusive and particularly extensive range of CAD libraries.

It is also possible to update Allplan via an online connection. The user can configure the new auto-update function so that updates are performed automatically, semi-automatically or manually. The administrator approves central updating of specific workstations to ensure that every Allplan computer in the workgroup installation is brought up-to-date at the next program start.

The trend towards using components and 3D models requires improved performance in order to display and process this data. Allplan 2011 therefore allows users working with large data quantities to display image sections quickly and accurately in all design views when moving or changing them, the company said. The last of the additions is an interactive, hidden line tool.
