Agile Frameworks LLC announces support for Android and iPhone devices for construction materials testing application

MINNEAPOLIS — Agile Frameworks LLC, a provider of management and IT consulting, software as a service (SaaS), and managed services for the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) marketplace, announced that Android and iPhone smart phones are now supported by MetaField, its mobile application for field data collection. MetaField has supported the Blackberry platform since 2010.

MetaField, a field information management system, is designed for engineering firms and their field technicians specializing in geotechnical, environmental, non-destructive engineering, and construction materials testing to perform onsite data collection. Soil density and concrete field testing represent examples of tests that are supported by MetaField. MetaField’s mobile functionality addresses the remote-nature of the business and the entire field data collection process in a more accurate, accelerated way via smart phones.

Supporting the Android, Blackberry, and Apple platforms ensures MetaField’s availability to a large number of wireless broadband devices, such as smart phones, iPads, and tablets running on networks including Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile. This wide array of platforms enables technicians in AEC trades to work on something they are familiar with and always have access to, unlike competing mobile PCs or specially designed tablets. MetaField addresses the entire field data collection process from input through quality control, report dissemination and delivery.

“Having this software available on my Android makes it possible to quickly and easily input data, send that data to the lab, have it analyzed, and provide it to my client in a fraction of the time it used to take. By typing in the project number, I can access all of the information on my phone, eliminating the need to make a trip back to the office. If we need to get a report to a client 30 minutes after the test, we can now do so,” said Braun Intertec Senior Engineering Technician Jason Gross.

Dave Bomersine, vice president of the Braun Intertec Construction Materials Testing practice, understands MetaField’s significance in cost cutting and time saving. “We have used MetaField for several years now and love the new smartphone functionality. Since we started using the solution, our technicians have cut costs and time required to deliver reliable, rapid results to our clients,” Bomersine said.

Per Brian Hase, CTO at Agile Frameworks, MetaField is device agnostic. “Mobile workers like having multiple options in the devices they use to get their jobs done. As IT departments become more flexible in supporting multiple devices among their users, enterprise software providers need to be flexible as well.”

Additional software updates including field observation and daily reporting are scheduled for late 2011. The product roadmap for MetaField includes dispatch, scheduling, time tracking, and non- destructive evaluation.
