AECOM launches new global CAD standards

LOS ANGELES — In an effort to enhance collaboration by technical staff across geographies and business lines, AECOM has launched new Global Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Standards. Effective immediately, the standards should be leveraged as the basis for new CAD documentation, unless previously approved client standards are in place.

An initiative of the Global Technical and Innovation Council and the Chief Technology Office, the new Global CAD Standards provide employees with point-and-click access to information, knowledge and content required to deliver standardized documentation. The standards will evolve over time, based on input from the user community and technological advancements.

“AECOM’s extensive and diverse technical capabilities around the world are among the company’s key strengths,” said AECOM’s Jim Walsh, senior vice president and chief technology officer. “Making CAD standards and best practices available globally aligns with our Core Values of Innovation and Excellence and helps support Vision 2020.”

“This initiative was a collaborative effort,” added AECOM’s John Kizior, director, Delivery Solutions. “Delivering a project of this magnitude required extensive input from CAD leaders in all geographies and business lines, and would not have been possible without their expertise and support.”
