Gannett Fleming, the engineering consultant of the Red Lion Municipal Authority in York, Pa., used 3D Building Information Modeling (BIM) as a collaborative tool during plant design of the Authority’s new water treatment plant, one of the first in the United States designed using BIM deisgn software and delivery.
Newforma, a project information management software company serving the building and infrastructure industries recently introduced a new portfolio of PIM software suites tailored to the differing needs of architecture, engineering, and construction firms, and the owners they serve. In addition to packaging the Newforma PIM solution in forms more suitable to each industry segment, the Newforma Product Suites contain new and improved individual software products that meet the needs of different participants in each industry segment, depending on the project delivery processes of greatest importance to their firms.
GreenWizard – a cloud-based product management and project collaboration solution that simplifies green building administration, planning and certification –has announced that contractors and architects who use GreenWizard have added $800 million in construction project value in just the last four weeks. The total project value within GreenWizard today is $8.75 billion.
CSC, a structural engineering software developer recently announced the formation of a new industry strategic business relationship with Autodesk, Inc.’s Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) division to further promote the adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM) within the global structural engineering community. As part of the new relationship, the parties have entered into an agreement whereby CSC and Autodesk will provide customers with more closely integrated solutions that support a more efficient structural engineering workflow for BIM.
IMAGINiT Technologies, a division of Rand Worldwide, has released IMAGINiT Clarity, a web-based solution that allows project team members and external partners to share one centrally located BIM model securely from multiple locations. Clarity was designed for use with the Autodesk Revit BIM platform.
A working group of the American Concrete Institute’s (ACI) Committee 131 on Building Information Modeling (BIM) is developing an Information Delivery Manual (IDM) for cast-in-place concrete. The IDM will capture in written form the interaction that occurs in the design and construction of concrete structures by identifying the parties involved in information exchange, what information is exchanged and when, based on a typical construction project timeline.
Win More Work with Innovative Approaches to Project Proposals Thursday, June 27th, 2013
How can you make your project proposals stand out in order to win work without losing time and money?

Get to 30% Design Faster Thursday, August 8th, 2013
Once you win an infrastructure project, how does your team provide owners, review agencies, clients and other stakeholders with a more solid understanding of your design intent?
This webcast presentation will present innovative approaches that show how you can easily combine 2D CAD, GIS, raster, and 3D models, enabling you to accelerate your infrastructure design process. It will also show how you can easily use rich visualizations to validate design decisions faster.
Get to “Yes” Faster with Agency and Community Stakeholders Thursday, September 12th, 2013
Review agencies need to understand and approve projects before they can be built, but the approval process is often slow and linear. Non-technical public stakeholders, such as surrounding residents and business owners, struggle understanding 2D plans and their confusion can lead to expensive roadblocks.
Learn how you can use compelling simulations and animated 3D visualizations to better communicate project alternatives and community impact in a format that is more interactive and easily understood by agencies and non-technical audiences alike.
