CHICAGO — Nemetschek Vectorworks’ BIM Camp continues to travel the country and will arrive in Chicago for a one-day seminar on Thursday, April 18. Perfect for architects considering a transition to a Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflow, BIM Camp provides attendees with the skills they need to better understand how IFC-based standards benefit design teams, create sustainable and high-performing designs, and collaborate through Open BIM.
EXTON, PA. — Bentley Systems Incorporated reported that its Bentley Pointools technology was used to visualize and analyze the most detailed laser scan survey ever conducted of historic Stonehenge — one of the world’s oldest built environments. The laser scan with point spacing of 0.5 millimeters resulted in a data resource of 850 gigabytes. The task of further examining this ancient infrastructure to discover more about it was awarded to ArcHeritage, part of the York Archaeological Trust in the United Kingdom as part of a project commissioned by English Heritage.
LEXINGTON, KY. — Students at the University of Kentucky at Lexington are gaining exclusive research experience with the help of Maptek I-Site 8800 3D laser scanning technology. The university purchased the long-range scanner in mid 2012, receiving educational licenses for I-Site Studio software and Maptek Vulcan mine planning software.
MAYSVILLE, KY. — The Carlson 30th Anniversary User Conference will be held April 7-10, 2013, in Cincinnati. The three-day conference is designed to provide the tools its attendees need to be at the forefront of the rapidly changing technical aspects of the land development and mining industries.

The new version allows users to view Revizto interactive 3D designs via iPad and Android tablets to easily communicate in the field.
AURORA, COLO. — America’s water and sewer infrastructure continues to age and deteriorate and government officials are relying on geographic information systems (GIS) technology as a fiscally and environmentally sustainable model for current and future operational improvements. Join Elthron Anderson, GIS administrator for Southgate Water and Sanitation Districts in Centennial, Colo., and Stephen McElroy, Ph.D., GIS program chair for American Sentinel University, as they discuss how Southgate uses GIS for optimized water and sewer asset management and infrastructure sustainability in a complimentary webinar, “Optimized Asset Management and Infrastructure Sustainability with GIS” on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 1 p.m. EDT.
We hear quite a bit these days about the ways in which technology is altering our day-to-day lives. From business communities, to school environments, and even in social spheres, people simply operate differently now than they did even a few short years ago. Specifically, the shift tends to be toward increased digitization of the ways in which we conduct business and communicate.

Get to 30% Design Faster Thursday, August 8th, 2013
Once you win an infrastructure project, how does your team provide owners, review agencies, clients and other stakeholders with a more solid understanding of your design intent?
This webcast presentation will present innovative approaches that show how you can easily combine 2D CAD, GIS, raster, and 3D models, enabling you to accelerate your infrastructure design process. It will also show how you can easily use rich visualizations to validate design decisions faster.
Get to “Yes” Faster with Agency and Community Stakeholders Thursday, September 12th, 2013
Review agencies need to understand and approve projects before they can be built, but the approval process is often slow and linear. Non-technical public stakeholders, such as surrounding residents and business owners, struggle understanding 2D plans and their confusion can lead to expensive roadblocks.
Learn how you can use compelling simulations and animated 3D visualizations to better communicate project alternatives and community impact in a format that is more interactive and easily understood by agencies and non-technical audiences alike.
