» Bentley reports revenue over $520 million, acquires ElcoSystems   Bentley Systems

Bentley systems held its annual conference call with reporters last week. As a private company, the Exton, Pa.-based software manufacturer is not required to report its earnings but they still perform an annual call to do just that. Total revenue for 2011 was $523 million, up 10% over 2010 by GAAP accounting practices. Business in the Asia/Pacific region was up more than 30% to nearly $100 million, accounting for 19% of the company's total revenue. CEO Greg Bentley said that growth was driven by strong demand in China.

HP today introduced new multicore updates and increased expandability on its line of HP Z Workstation computers.
The new workstations feature the eight-core Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 product family, offer up to 512 gigabytes of DDR3 memory, and support multithreaded workstation applications that AEC professionals rely on.

» HP expands printer partnership with Autodesk   HP

Hewlett Packard has expanded its partnership with Autodesk to enable remote printing from the  popular AutoCAD WS mobile app. As of today, by registering for HP ePrint & Share, AutoCAD WS users can use the new Plot to Print function to print their designs and automatically archive a copy on any web-connected HP Designjet or HP ePrinter. This new feature provides full control over plot styles, paper sizes, layouts and more.


» National Park Service uses AutoCAD to document historical engineering record   Autodesk

The National Park Service is using AutoCAD software from Autodesk to help document American engineering and industrial achievements as part of an historical program started more than 40 years ago.

America’s engineering and industrial achievements are stunning accomplishments in themselves, although most Americans may not be aware of them. That is why the Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) was established in 1969 by the National Park Service, the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Library of Congress to document historic sites and structures related to engineering and industry.

AIA, President of the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding underscoring the two organizations’ mutual interest in the design, construction, operations and maintenance of high-performance buildings and the desire to collaborate on issues surrounding these topics.
